How does anybody else handle the item set up for profile manufacturing where the only variance is length.
Example:
Profile = 1234
Variants = length, 1m, 2m, 3m etc....
Manufacture: We set the machine, produce the profile and cut to length in one process (without changing the BOM).
Currently we create a single item for each possible cut length.
e.g. items 1234/1, 1234/2, 1234/3 all have units of each, all use the same
BOM item (qty would differ) and routing (timing would differ).
We then raise multiple production orders for each cut length.
Does anybody else have a different way of handling these types of set up?
